KernelWork

Pricing

Per-seat pricing. Agency-scale tiers. One platform, one invoice — not five.

KernelWork is sold as commercial software. The default expectation is a flat annual license and you run production on your stack; managed dedicated and shared cloud tiers exist when you want KernelWork to host instead.

Either way, you run one tenant for the agency: each client engagement gets isolated workspaces. Module toggles and guest access follow your order form.

The calculator below illustrates shared and dedicated cloud only. Self-hosted quotes bundle the flat license — talk to sales for production clusters.

The calculator below is a non-binding illustration for shared and dedicated cloud. Your signed order form governs definitions, taxes, and add-ons.

  • Delivery seats — illustrative monthly rate per internal staff member with a full account (consultant, PM, engineer). Bundles, floor seats, and governance SKUs may differ; confirm with sales.
  • Modules — only agile, docs, and calendar toggles are modeled here. Other licensed surfaces are not included in this subtotal.
  • Video minutes — billed units follow your contract (e.g. participant-minutes vs room-minutes). The slider here is a single aggregate for illustration only.
  • Egress — outbound traffic from our cloud to the public internet may be billed separately from compute and storage; confirm in your order form.
  • Taxes & FX — estimates exclude VAT/GST and currency conversion.

Frequently asked questions

How does per-seat pricing work for agencies?

Seats count your internal delivery staff — consultants, PMs, developers, and principals. Client stakeholders invited as guests do not consume a seat in most configurations. Confirm exact guest-seat policy on your order form before committing to a client SOW.

Are client engagements isolated from each other?

Your consultancy typically runs one tenant. Each client engagement gets its own workspace conversation, channels, docs space, and agile board — provisioned together when you create the engagement. Guests and client users only see the spaces you explicitly invite them into — client A cannot access client B. Your delivery team uses a single login and switches engagements inside that tenant.

Do clients need accounts?

Internal delivery staff use full accounts. Client stakeholders can join as guests with scoped access to their project channels only. For video calls specifically, server-minted join tokens let external attendees join without any account at all. Confirm guest policy details with sales before committing in a SOW.

Self-hosted, Dedicated, or Cloud — which fits my agency?

Self-hosted is the standard answer when your clients or your security team require on-premises, sovereign regions, or a minimal subprocessors list: flat annual license, you operate Postgres, object storage, and media infrastructure — we ship software, updates, and support.

Dedicated gives you an isolated database and compute footprint that we operate — ideal when an enterprise client requires separation from shared multi-tenant pools but you do not want to run the stack yourself.

Cloud (shared) is the fastest way to evaluate, pilot, or run a lean team on managed infrastructure with per-seat billing. Upgrade to dedicated or self-hosted when procurement outgrows shared hosting.

What is included in the flat self-hosted license?

Software, updates, and commercial support under an annual commitment per production cluster. You supply the compute, Postgres, object storage, and LiveKit SFU. No platform metering on minutes, recordings, or storage — your infra, your costs. Professional services for deployment and onboarding are available separately.

Can I toggle modules on or off per client?

Execution modules — Chat + Video, Agile Boards, and Living Documentation — can be enabled or disabled for the tenant via workspace configuration. Governance and transparency surfaces (time, engagements, invoicing, resources, vault, reports, portal, discovery, assist features) also follow feature flags and plan limits — ask sales which toggles apply to your edition so statements in a client SOW stay accurate.

Is there a free evaluation tier?

Yes — the Free tier lets your team evaluate core messaging and meetings without an invoice. It runs on shared trial capacity with published fair-use limits. Upgrade to Pro when you need SLAs, more seats, a dedicated footprint, or a self-hosted license for production client work.
